This oatmeal diet seems to be working, but can it be harmful?

AnthonyPaul asked:

I have been substituting at least two meals a day with a 1/2 cup serving of old-fashioned Quaker oatmeal and it really seems to be working. I use Splenda or Sweet n’ Low instead if sugar. I also eat light canned tuna and some vegetables for lunch or dinner and I will begin indulging in small portions of baked fish and chicken. I have also included tons of water in my diet.

I have found that eating all this oatmeal sends me to the restroom frequently. I was told this can strip me of the essential vitamins that I need.

Is the “oatmeal diet” a safe and healthy way to lose weight?

Actually it is good for your. Oatmeal provides you with fiber (a good thing) and it is known to reduce cholesterol levels.

Fish is also very good for you. Well, in limited amounts, as there has been a lot of flack about eating fish from contaminated waters.

Consider taking vitamin c tabs. Some are chewable others you take with a drink. Adding a multivitamin wouldn’t be a bad idea. I eat 2lbs of tuna 3xweek, and have hard boiled eggs and oatmeal with fruit every morning. I have salads and baked potatoe or pasta every night ( I run a lot). But I do take vit C. Also consider adding some greens too for your immune system.

Well not really. First ask yourself. Are you willing to eat Oatmeal the rest of your left? if you think you cant, then dont eat it everyday. Instead of rice, eat brown rice. Eat “whole wheat” bread. Anything that is whole wheat or whole grain.

Yes you might lose weight at first, but once you stop eating oatmeal and you go back to your normal eating habbits, you gain the weight back.

Best advice, try to use portion control

    Losing weight without starving yourself

Oatmel is a step in the right direction, however fruit is much better for you. If you do use oatmeal i do not recomend a microwave becasue of the radiation that has been proven to casue cancer. DO NOT UESE SPLENDA OR SWEET AND LOW. I encourage you to go to mercola.com and use the search engine on there about the dangers that toxic chemical has on your body.

Yes the oatmeal diet is very safe. The tuna, baked fish & chicken and lots of veggies especially green veg. are good. Lots of water is the key to weight loss along with walking.
Going to the bathroom a lot is great. Oatmeal will do that and is good for your body. It is flushing out all the impurities.

My husband has done the oatmeal 2 meals a day along with a healthy dinner and walking and has lost 43 pounds.
    Good luck.

Your “oatmeal” diet sounds better than a lot of other ones, so keep it up.

Be sure you’re getting enough protein (1 serving & lunch & dinner is plenty). Also take a multi vitamin each day.

No, you are not stripping your body of anything. Oatmeal is high in fiber so you’re using the potty more. That’s all.

Be sure that’s a 1/2 cup serving because oatmeal carbs are high. A quick 1/2 cup guide is a “jello” cup. It’s not very much.

Good job picking a diet that’s working for you!
